Christmas

All things considered we had a pretty good Christmas. I spend all day Christmas Eve baking (about 13 hours) and made a Pumpkin Roll and 5 kinds of cookies.

- Christmas Lace Cookies
- Gingersnaps
- Snickerdoodles
- Melt-Away Butter Fingers
- Hot Chocolate Cookies





If anyone wants the rest of the cookie recipes I'll post them. :)

I finished my part of the cooking yesterday morning by making potato cakes (more commonly known as lefse).


I got most of what I asked for for Christmas plus a few extra things. My Christmas Presents



There is a story behind the Hungry Hungry Hippos game.
I had one as a kid but it's an extremely noisy game and my mother got very annoyed by it so she accidentally-on-purpose broke it by stepping on it. Well, now it's 22 years later and I'm getting my replacement for it. ;)

I also got gift cards to Michael's and Target.


We got over a foot of snow between Wednesday and yesterday and last night it rained for awhile then turned to sleet and back over to snow. @_@ I just love Minnesota weather.

I still haven't finished, or actually even started, the gifts I plan on making. Hopefully I'll get it done before the reveal.

Potato cakes have always been one of my favorite parts of the holidays and it's my Great-Grandmother's recipe too, none of that store bought stuff. :)

I love having homemade cookies for Christmas but they're so much work it's months before I'm willing to make any more.

It's too hot here to bake in summer, so I've given up. I buy some yummy handmade goods at the gourmet supermarkets instead. :-)
