Fanfiction Headers

This is the universally recognized header for Fanfictions. There are of course variations, but they all resemble this in some way. Below are the explanations of each category, so there are no misunderstandings. :)

Word Count:
A/N:
Title and Author are fairly self explanatory.
Fandom is useful in-case a writer writes in multiple fandoms or in the case of a crossover.
Pairings should always be included! If you think there is no pairing but the story revolves around the relationship between two characters it should be listed as X/Y - friendship. Also, Gen is for any story with no sexual or romantic relationship of any kind (even if it's canon). Het is for any explicit or implied heterosexual relationship. Slash is for any explicit or implied m/m homosexual relationship. Femslash is for any explicit or implied f/f homosexual relationship.
Ratings can either be the standard G, PG, PG-13, R, NC-17 (which the MPAA does not want fanfic writers using and are willing to sue people over), or the fanfic rating system FRC, FRT, FRT-13, FRM, FRAO. These ratings tell you how much violence and/or sex are in the fics.
Summaries are nice but not entirely necessary if the author doesn't want to risk giving away the plot.
Disclaimers, while some think they are ridiculous, they should always be used. It protects the author and the people that hold the copyrights.
Warnings/Squicks, anything you think needs to be mentioned such as Rape, BDSM, character death, incest, etc.
Word counts help people know how long a fic they are reading, it's just a nice thing to do. Not entirely necessary if the author doesn't want to include it.
A/N: Author's notes, anything else the author wishes you to know about a fic.
