Well, you certainly don't have to do anything. It's just a suggestion, or even just something to keep in mind for future fic-writing. That is, to try to answer the questions you raise in fics like that. It makes them more self-contained. Anyway, I always strongly feel that one should write wherever their muse takes them, so if it's more on this theme or to a different area completely, go for it. :D
