It's something I learned how to do in my 7th grade art class. I had completely forgotten about it, then earlier this evening I was going through some of my papers and I found one I did years ago (possibly it was the first one I did).

I remember doing that sort of thing my self, my chemistry work books for the 6th form at Secondary had little doodles of that type in all the margins. I still doodle them when I'm bored, but not as well as you do here.
