I don't dislike Tara by any means, but I definitely was not as into her as I expected to be when I learned there was a lesbian couple on Buffy. I just liked Oz too much and didn't believe the way Willow was presented as gay.

That was my whole problem too. It also felt very rushed. Willow was shattered when Oz left, but then all of a sudden she's better and she's gay. There wasn't any hesitation or thoughts of wait a minute what's happening here. I would have believed it more if she was presented as bi.

I loved Tara. I loved Oz too. Kennedy annoyed the hell out of me, on the other hand.

I had just started to like Tara when she was killed. So, it never really had time to take hold. I just liked Oz too much. And the way the whole storyline was presented just felt rushed and wrong. Willow was shattered when Oz left, but then all of a sudden she's better and she's gay. There wasn't any hesitation or thoughts of wait a minute what's happening here. I would have believed it more if she was presented as bi.

Let me put in a huge *me too* on the Kennedy thing. I couldn't stand her. I adored Tara, although I totally agree with arenee1999 that it was not realistic that Willow suddenly woke up gay and fell in love. Especially since her history was being in love and lusting after Xander and being so in love and crushed about Oz. If they had just had something in her background to suggest she liked men and women, it would have been more believable.

I remember when they had the episode where all the women fell in love with the high school guy because of the magical jacket. And it never occurred to anyone that Willow could lust after him. She would have to figure out how to make him into a woman. Like, hello! Remember Xander and Oz - they had penises.

I love them. They're, depending on the day, tied for my favorite couple on the show, or they're second. I think a good chunk of it is the fact that Tara's not a tooth pick, like everyone else on the cast, and it was nice to see someone who was built a bit different get a nice relationship. Also, the character I relate to the most, aside from Buffy and her problems, is Tara and hers, albeit not to that extent, so she ended up being one of my favorite characters.

My favorite Buffyverse pairing is Willow/Oz. The way the whole storyline with Willow being gay was presented just grates on my nerves. There wasn't any hesitation or second thoughts and that just isn't real. It's so soap opera bad it just irritates me. Because of that I just couldn't like Tara. I was finally starting to like her and then she was killed. It never had a chance to take hold and change my mind before she was gone.

I do admit that the whole "I'm suddenly completely gay" Willow perspective was just really weird, but I saw no reason to blame it on Tara. In my head Willow is Bi anyway. Because I do believed she really loved Oz too. And so changing that little way of seeing it in my head, allowed them to become my favorites.
