So, I've started watching Babylon 5. It was originally much further down on my list of stuff to watch, but Costco had all the seasons on sale a couple weeks ago, so we bought it.

We just finished episode 9 of Season 1, so I'm not very far into it yet. I'm still trying to figure it out a bit. I don't dislike it, but I'm not sure how much I like it yet. Unless one or more of the characters really start to jump out at me I don't think I'll become fannish about the show. Of course I could be completely wrong about that, it certainly wouldn't be the first time. Most of my major fandoms started out as shows I only had mild feelings for. ;)

[livejournal.com profile] hl_kink   is accepting prompts here , all pairings and kinks are welcome. Unsurprisingly most of the prompts are Duncan/Methos, but a few of us have requested other pairings. ;D I'm not sure why I commented anonymously, I mean it shouldn't be too hard for anyone to figure out which prompts were mine. And the Master List of prompt fills is here.

There's a couple interesting discussions going on in [livejournal.com profile] kirkspock. Neither one has anything to do with Kirk/Spock, they're more a general fanfic query. What's the most important quality for a fanfic to have? and ESL (English as Second Language) in fanfiction. Surprisingly neither topic has has created drama, rudness or flaming.

I have 8 days to get my Sarah Jane Smith icons done for [livejournal.com profile] doctorwho20in20  and I haven't even started them yet. Plus I have to get some icons done for my [livejournal.com profile] year_of_chars  claim.  I'm just so unmotivated right now.

I do have a new band to obsess over. XD I've been watching The Voice on NBC. I've managed to fall hard for Adam Levine. Hahaha. I've never listened to Maroon 5 before, but he's hot and I love his voice, so I've been watching Maroon 5 vids on youtube. LOL I'm hopeless.

Oh, OH! I saw Thor last night, in IMAX 3D. It was much better than I anticipated. A good lead up to The Avengers.

Speaking of movies, after seeing Fast Five, I realized the only Vin Diesel movies I owned were Pitch Black and The Chronicles of Riddick. I've fixed that little oversight. I got the first  Fast & Furious movie at Target (I picked up 2 Fast and 2 Furious and Tokyo Drift as well) and I've ordered xXx and Strays. Now I need to get the 4th Fast and Furious movie. Target was out of it when I went before. I have to poke through my DVDs and see if I have The Pacifier, if not I need to get that one too.

I guess the good thing about B5 is that the cast, uhhhh, rotates. So someone new might show up that you like later. Also, the cast rotates, which is sort of bad if you liked anyone. I didn't dislike the show, and there were bits I enjoyed, but I gave up on it somewhere between S4 and S5 I think. I just stopped caring about the characters. If I don't find myself thinking "What happens NEXT?" when I take a break from watching, then I am clearly not invested and just stop watching. I've never yet gone, "Hmmm, what happened in B5? I should watch the rest to find out" so I'm down with never seeing the ending.

Hang on with B5 - it gets kinda seriously epic. The acting gets a lot better, the scripts uh...vary, but it's one of my all time favourites for good reason. (Also - Londo and G'Kar *g*). :)

The above list is more or less perfect if you're going for a strict chronology (I say more or less because 'In the Beginning' should technically be first, but seriously - do not watch it first as it will absolutely ruin several plots throughout various seasons).

Happy viewing - I'd love to hear your opinion as you're watching. :)

Maroon 5 is pretty groovy. I saw them in concert a couple of years ago. They put on a pretty good show.

I want to see Thor. Maybe this weekend.

As for Vin Diesel movies, there's also A Man Apart and Knockaround Guys. I won't say they're brilliant, but I think they are better than critics gave them credit for. Target used to have it as a double-feature, but I don't know if they still do or not.
