So it looks like Dreamwidth is offering a 'promotion' of sorts right now. Due to the extreme number of people fleeing LJ like rats from a sinking ship, you can create an account on Dreamwidth this weekend without an invite code. Then go here and import all of your LJ entries, comments, etc to your Dreamwidth account. (There is a backlog of imports at the moment, but once you start the import you can log-off and it will keep working). There is also a tool for comm imports in the works. Yay! If you're worried about being hopelessly confused by DW go here. You can check this out too.

However, there is a bit of a work around for the new comment boxes. Go here, scroll down to 'Presentaion: Basic Options'. Look for the line that says "Disable customized comment pages for your journal" set it to NO. Save changes. Comment pages on your journal will now use the 'old' comment boxes. You can do this for any comms you run as well.

I already turned on my custom commenting because of the lack of margins and the difficulty reading across a wide screen and yay, subject and drop-down icon selection were there to my delight!

Does importing to Dreamwidth delete the entries from my LJ account? I'd like to have a back-up of LJ, just in case. :3

No, it doesn't. Everything on LJ stays just how you have it. :)
