I haven't spent much time on LJ for quite awhile, but I wanted to do a quick-ish update and let everyone know what's been going on lately.

Before I forget, I want to say thanks to those of you that wished me a Happy Birthday. ;)

My main reason for abandoning LJ is basically still there, I feel out of place and a bit uncomfortable within my various fandoms and since I think of LJ as mainly a fandom playground I've just stayed away. I also haven't really been moved to make graphics lately so I've not even had that as a reason to post. However, should anyone want graphics from me, don't hesitate to ask. I was recently reminded by kitty_fic that I do actually enjoy making them. I also wouldn't be adverse to a bit of poking if anyone sees something they think I'd really enjoy. Pointing out new fic I've probably missed would be cool too, my fandoms and pairings are still listed in a sticky post at the top of my journal.

Now on to a more personal and immediate issue. On August 17th I woke up with a sharp pain in my back ha felt like a possible pinched nerve. Then a week later it got really bad and I went to the hospital. They, unhelpfully, said it was probably just a sprained muscle and sent me home with Percocet. This past Friday I finally had an MRI. It turns out that I have a very bad herniated disc between my C6 & C7 vertebrae, which is pushing against a nerve. I'm scheduled for surgery Monday morning. Needless to say I probably won't be online much after this weekend, a least for a week or two. However, I am checking Twitter regularly from my phone so I'll see any messages sent to me there. :)

Well, I've just about hit the limit of my typing ability before my back and shoulder start to complain so, ttfn. ;p

I just went through your fandom sticky post, trying to remember the fandom that brought us to each other's radar. I'm fairly certain it was Buffy. :) (B/G, B/G/E, G/E) But I noticed some newer fandoms we have in common, so that's great.

While I almost never post to LJ any more, I check my flist daily. And I'm always on Twitter.

I've followed you on Twitter. I should mention that my twitter account isn't usually very fannish except for the occasional Whedonvere and Harry Potter post. I've sort of developed a crush on Piers Morgan and it has sort of taken over my twitter posts. It's also reminded me of my love of soccer, although like Piers I'm an Arsenal fan. ;)

Aresenal fan?! I'm not sure if we're allowed to socialize any more. ;) J/K...I've managed to keep a friendship going with a life-long ManU supporter. As a Chelsea fan, that's almost unheard of.

If I read your list right you ship Remus/Sirius. I have a few things in mind (they are one of my OTPs) but first

1. Do you listen to podfics?
2. Do you enjoy non-magic AUs?

I've never listened to pod-fics but I'm not against them if they're well read and the fic itself is well written.

My only requirement for fic is that it be well written. I've never read a non-magic AU within the HP universe, but I've read similar things in other fandoms that I enjoyed. My biggest nitpicks are atrocious spelling and grammar mistakes, aside from that I'll generally give anything try once.

I pretty much live in the Avengers section of AO3, with occasional side trips to The Losers, Glee, The Bourne Legacy, and Hansel & Gretel (2013). I have a thing for Jeremy Renner. :D

I have a huge love affair with Avengers, but I never really got into the fic for it. My biggest crushes of the franchise are RDJ and Tom Hiddleston.

Going along with the Avengers line... are you going to be watching S.H.I.E.L.D.?

I just saw a bit the other night where Hiddles was on Sesame Street and taught Cookie Monster about Delayed Gratification. It was adorable. :D Mercy, I could sit and listen to that man read the phone book and be perfectly happy. His voice is heaven.

Ouch! Back pain is horrible as it really grinds you down. Hope the surgery is fine and you recover quickly.

I haven't been moved to make graphics recently either, but that's happened to me before and the wish to do it has come back again. I'm waiting to feel it again :)

I'm feeling somewhat isolated too as so many fannish friends have gone. I suppose I'll have to post about non-fandom things and build up a new group as I do enjoy online interaction, the introvert's way of partying.

I think the longer I stay away from LJ the guiltier I feel about abandoning my flist and that just makes it even harder to post. Plus my main fandom obsession sill seems to b HP and my flist actually only has a few HP fans in it so I always feel like I should be posting about other stuff too. *sigh*

I got very burnt out on graphics making for awhile, but when you asked for those banners and I actually started making them I remembered how much fun it can be. So don't hesitate to ask if you want banners for any other communities, it may just give me he push I need to keep making things. Although I'll probably be unable to do much for the next few weeks until my neck heals. :)
