Day 5
In your own space, talk about your fannish origin story. How did you come to fandom, why did you choose your fannish name, do you have more than one secret identity?
I found fandom sometime around 2003 or 2004. I started out on Yahoo Groups in the Buffy and Charmed fandoms. I quickly dropped Charmed because I didn't really care for the groups I found. Then I found Highlander fandom and joined Adrian's Angels, still on Yahoo groups. I met a whole bunch of really nice people in that group, among them was

So, after joining LJ I mostly stayed within Highlander and Buffy fandom for a couple years. The first slash fanfiction I ever read was Brass Knackers by sabershadowkat (a Spike/Xander fic). XD I slowly stared adding more fandoms and well... here I am, 9 years and a bazillion fandoms later. ;p
My online name is the only one I've ever used and I use it everywhere. It's my first inital, my middle name and the year I graduated high school. I've always thought it was a bit silly to choose a name based on one fandom because as your interests change you'll want to change it, like what happens on Tumblr on a regular basis. Everyone changing their URL's to fit their obsession of the moment is irritaing beyond words.
