Doctor Who: Season 5

arenee1999I finally sat down an watched Season 5 of Doctor Who. Here are my thoughts. Spoilers if you haven't seen Season 5 yet.
Amy Pond:
I love Amy. She's feisty, clever and really fun.
Rory Williams:
I'm still not 100% sold on Rory, but he and Amy are great together. I expect I'll like him more in season 6
River Song:
I still don't like River. I didn't like her when we met her in 'Silence in the Library' and I haven't changed my mind.
Tardis:
I'm not sure if I like the new Tardis or not. It's different and difficult to get used to.
Eleven:
Oh, where to start. I don't care for Eleven that much, but I think I love Matt Smith. There are moments in most of the episodes where I just LOVE him. However, all the way through the season I kept thinking that if I hadn't seen any of Classic Who and only had Nine and Ten to base my reactions on I'd HATE Eleven. But there was something in him that reminded me of some of the earlier Doctors.
After I finished watching all the episodes I went searching for something that would help me like him better. I found this interview of Matt where he says his favorite Doctor is Patrick Troughton. Well, then everything just fell into place for me. I went back and re-watched a couple of episodes and now I don't dislike him quite as much. He's still not quite on my list of top 5 favorite Doctors, but with a little time I think I could grow to like him quite a bit.
Storylines:
I was irritated with the 'crack in the wall' story arc before it really even started. I don't mind the season long hints of what's to come, but I prefer them to be a bit more subtle. I really don't need a 4x4 to the head in every episode to catch the hints. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad RTD is gone from Doctor Who, but I liked the way he slipped the hints in to the episodes a lot better.
5 Favorite Eleven Moments:
1) Atraxi Speech
2) All of his speeches in 'Time of the Angels' and 'Flesh and Stone'
3) Amy Kisses the Doctor followed by the Deleted Scene
4) Shower Scene *
5) Amy's Wedding *
* I'm not sure which I like better. Matt in a Tux or Matt wet and naked. ;)
I should probably mention... My absolute favorite thing from Season 5 is the montage of the Doctor and the other glimpses of past Doctors that we see a few time through the season. XDXD
So, 'Time Crash' is still my most favorite Doctor Who moment ever.
