Doctor Who

I had to get a Doctor Who icon for this post. Something tells me I'll be using it quite often.

I have finally stared watching "Classic Who". I usually insist on watching a show from the beginning, but I'm making an exception in this case. vandonovan has got me curious about the second Doctor and more in particular Two/Jamie. So I am watching episodes from the first and second Doctor at the same time.

An Unearthly Child (1st Doctor):
I'm a bit surprised, but I rather liked these episodes. The 'pilot' episode and the 'first' episode are the same episode with a few minor changes. I like the 'first' episode version better. As for William Hartnell, I think I will reserve judgement on whether I like his Doctor until I've seen a few more episodes.

The Tomb of the Cybermen (2nd Doctor):
Hmm, well. I do like Patrick Troughton's Doctor. I can also see Two/Jamie (although that may be because I was looking for it and I expected to see it). I did not, however, like the episodes. *ducks and runs for cover*

Oh, Van...feel free to recommend Two/Jamie fics for me to read. :)


A side note here...Does anybody here read Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series? Is my brain finding coincidences where there aren't any?
Two's companion = Jamie (a Highlander in a kilt) played by Frazer Hines...Gabaldon's hero (for lack of a better term) = Jamie Fraser a Highlander in a kilt. Hmm.
Did I mention it's a time travel series? And Jamie's wife is a doctor?


I just got Doctor Who: The Complete First Series on DVD and I re-watched it. Can I just say... I love the Ninth Doctor! *sigh* I noticed a few things while I was re-watching the series. I am clueless sometimes :) 

1. Eve Myles (Gwen Cooper = Torchwood) plays Gwenyth in "The Unquiet Dead" and closes the rift in 1869 Cardiff.

2. Naoko Mori (Toshiko Sato = Torchwood) plays Dr. Sato in "Aliens of London".

Other observations and and ramblings...
Rose meets the Face of Boe. That means quite a bit more now after that little bombshell at the end of season 3 XD

I hated Captain Jack when he originally appeared. What made me like him? When he kissed the Doctor ;)

Episode 12 "Bad Wolf" : I completely forgot about this episode! This is the first time we hear the name Torchwood. And Jack get 'defabricated' :D *sigh*

The Doctor kisses Rose! Pity she doesn't remember it. :)

I just read (like two days ago) in a review of Diana Gabaldon's new book that Jamie McKrimmon and the 2nd Doctor was what inspired her Outlander series.

Patrick Troughton played the 2nd Doctor, right? His grandson plays Much in the BBC series of Robin Hood.

Have you checked out http://www.whofic.com for 2/Jamie fics?

As much as I love DT, CD is till my favorite doctor. That's prolly because he's my first.

It took me awhile to get used to DT, at first I didn't like him at all. Nine was 'my' doctor and he'll probably always be one of my favorites.
