The Telegraph has done a list of The 10 greatest episodes of Doctor Who ever. There is quite a bit wrong with their list. There are no Troughton era stories, The Massacre of St Bartholomew's Eve is the Hartnell era episode and Inferno is the Pertwee era episode on the list. And to top it off there is a McCoy era episode on the list. Not surprisingly the Tom Baker era has the most serials listed (3). There is one Peter Davison era story, one story from the ninth doctor and two from the tenth doctor.
Now as I said earlier, I haven't seen the 4-8th Doctors yet but even so there are definitely episodes missing from the list and a few that shouldn't be there.
The Dead Planet would be a much better serial from the first Doctor.
Where are the Troughton era serials? If nothing else War Games should be there. (No I haven't seen it, but I know what it's about and what happens). The Evil of the Daleks or The Invasion would be good ones to add as well.
I liked Doctor Who and the Silurians better than Inferno, but maybe that's just me.
Now I'm going to skip to the ninth and tenth Doctor.
Dalek (to me) is a better choice than The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances.
Army of Ghosts/Doomsday makes more sense to have on the list than Human Nature/Family of the Blood.
While Blink was a good episode Planet of the Ood is better.

Date: 2008-07-05 10:35 pm (UTC)Dalek is good, although I do personally prefer The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances. As for Ten, well, I hate like 95% of his stories, so Army of Ghosts/Doomsday is just as offensive to me as Human Nature/Family of Blood, though at least the latter has less sap. Planet of the Ood would not be better than Blink to me. I don't know what I WOULD put. I don't like Ten enough at all. I think giving him Blink is more than enough, personally. He can have Blink and Troughton gets The War Games and Evil of the Daleks.

Date: 2008-07-06 01:46 am (UTC)Not having any Troughton episodes annoyed me. Of course they used up three of their slots with the Fourth Doctor, so they had to leave out a couple Doctors. They could have left out the Tenth Doctor though. I mean I don't hate him like you do, but none of his stories are really good enough to be considered the best ever...

Date: 2008-07-05 11:29 pm (UTC)I do think Blink deserves to be there (damn good story), and it does hardly have any Ten. :-) I don't hate him but he's my least-liked Doctor: far too immature and emo. I haven't seen any Six so I can't judge whether Ten's actually the worst.
Damn you, Nine, for going.
