I have a dreamwidth account now http://arenee1999.dreamwidth.org/ . I don't plan on using it, mostly because it's too confusing and I don't have the patience to figure it out. I would like to be able to import my LJ to it and cross-post to it from my LJ, but again, don't know how and have very little patience.

No patience needed really. Importing and cross-posting is amazingly easy.

Importing: Organize --> Import Content
Just fill in and ticky what is asked for. Watch the queue, because most things will import immediately, but entries may take a while. I left my window open and went to bed when I imported and they were finished when I woke up. Right now looks to be the perfect time to import entries, the queue is 1 instead of the 300+ it was the night I did it

Cross-posting: Account Settings --> Other Sites
Enter in your LJ name and password and save. To do the actual cross post, it's a ticky box option on the entries screen when posting.

Hope that helps and I hope you use it! I friended you over there. (anglophile)

No problem! Just be warned, if you import all your entries, there's no way to 'un-import' them. I've decided I don't want them all there, so I have to go through 1000+ entries and delete them one by one. *headdesk*

Groovy. I don't know how long the actual import of mine took. It was the waiting in queue. Probably because I was trying to do it at the weekend when everyone else was doing it too.

I'm going through via tags, and deleting all of each tag. It makes me feel I've accomplished something when I get tags down to 0 posts and then remove them. Doesn't seem so daunting a task. Though I know not all my entries are tagged.

Oh! Before I head to bed, thought this might come in handy: http://www.dreamwidth.org/support/faqbrowse.bml?faqid=121 Specifically for LJ users on Dreamwidth. The Tags/Markup one is very helpful and kinda neat.
